You can’t actually pahk yah cah in Hahvahd Yahd

Hello fun flingers. Thanks for all your bolstering and posturing comments. We both read them more than once. We both love them.  Keep ’em coming and we’ll keep posting.

Yesterday we travelled North via Boston’s incomprehensible Mass Transit system (Translation: Underground) to the pleasing college town of Cambridge Massachusetts – Home to both MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Harvard University. Temperatures here were 28oC with High Humidity so along the way we bough talc to sprinkle on our chaffed clefts  for the early afternoon shower.

Hahvahd Squah…you get sucked in and blown out the other side…

Leaving the Red Line station at Central Square, we cautiously entered the grounds of MIT from the back end and even probed the bowels of this world renowned institution (not many can say that) as we struggled to leave the enormous basement complex/janitorial supplies area.  Having found our route, we then walked the right way in through the impressive entrance on Massachusetts Avenue and straight into what is know colloquially as the ‘Infinity Corridor’  – my pictures are rubbish so won’t post. All very tourist friendly and accessible.

We were driven by the hope of walking down the corridor that Matt Damon’s character Will Hunting cleaned in the film ‘Good Will Hunting’ complete with blackboard where he chalked up this theoretical Maths problems. No such luck. No one knew where it was and in fact pookaverse learnt that that scene wasn’t actually filmed at MIT.

Back onto bustling Massachusetts Avenue amongst the student hoards under a sweltering lunchtime  sky and on to Harvard – another 30 minutes further along Massachusetts Avenue. The area around Harvard University is how you would imaging it to be. More colloquial with a lot of very wealthy young people walking around gazing at their iPhone 4’s. Even more pleasant was the arrival of the first light breeze in two days – the first kiss of Hurricane Leslie is on its way to the Eastern Seaboard later this week – just in time for out trip to Cape Cod. Can’t wait 😉

(The smileys on this site are spooky aren’t they – I swear to you I don’t look like that). Off to the airport in 45 minutes at 11am (4pm our time) to pick up the car, fire up the blessed Sat Nav and make our way to Cape Cod 1hr 30 minutes South of Boston.

Left-hand drive automatic….. Toyota Corolla or similar….We’ll let you know what happens 😐

Hahvhad Yahd…a muddy grass knoll from which the brightest of America’s youth assassinate ignorance. Note that Oswald isn’t in the picture.

The Great Dome(s) of MIT…Fnarr, Fnarr.
